New E-zine is now out! Please note that this is only available to members.
Please reach us at rosalind@matchmothers.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Matchmothers is a charity that was set up in 1980 in London by a mother who had no contact with her children after a divorce. She felt isolated and wanted to do something to find other mothers. She placed an advert in to the Times newspaper reaching out to other mothers in her situation.
The letters soon came flooding in and MATCHmothers was born.
The charity is currently run by three trustees, all who have experienced separation from their children.
The members number a varying amount from between 300 to 500. Some of our members are international however the majority are UK based.
When you join MATCH you will have access to a group of women who share similar feelings and experiences. To join, just call us on the helpline and we can give you details on how to join us.
Alternatively email our secretary on Rosalind@matchmothers.org. We do like to have a small chat with you just to learn a bit about yourself.
Once you become a matchmother we will send you a welcome pack with full details of how to join us. We have a private online area to chat which is on a social media platform, but discrete and away from the public view.
This chat area gives you the chance to talk and find likeminded women with whom you may find solace and companionship, support and an empathetic likeminded soul to share you story and situation with and receive support.
We understand your concerns, particularly if you find yourself in private court proceedings, public court proceedings or while trying to protect your privacy from third parties.
We advise mothers to sign up to social media accounts using an avatar so that they can talk freely without fear of being watched by anyone else. We always strongly advise against using any photographs or names of any other persons for data protection reasons and to also give you anonymity.
We politely remind you that disclosing details regarding a current private case case, or any details of any public court proceedings, even after the final hearing may lead to prosecution.
Some mothers prefer to stay off social media and therefore the group chat altogether. As with all members, they receive an e-zine each month, meet us at the annual get together and have private chats with mothers they have met through the service. We also have a pairing service for you and other mothers in your area so that you have a local connection and can meet with other mothers privately.
When you join MATCH you will have access to a group of women who share similar feelings and experiences. We understand the isolation that you may feel as a mother apart and look forward to hearing your story. We hope you will benefit from all we have to offer.
